RCBC Capital Corporation, the investment bank subsidiary of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation of the Yuchengco Group of Companies has completed the acquisition of 67 percent stake in publicly listed Bankard Inc. This is in line with RCBC's overall strategy of rechanneling its resources and focusing its expansion efforts on high-growth areas, especially in the consumer and retail banking markets.
RCBC is the fifth largest domestic private commercial bank in terms of assets and is affiliated with Sanwa Bank Ltd. of Japan. It is part of the Yuchengco Group of Companies and is thus affiliated with some of the biggest financial institutions in the country, notably, the Great Pacific Life Assurance Corporation (Grepalife), the Malayan Group of Insurance Companies, the House of Investments, Inc., and Pacific Plans, Inc.
